Blouvlei 2010 (Red)

BLEND:
Mainly Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz.
VITICULTURIST:

WINEMAKER:

Abraham Cloete.

ORIGIN:
W.O. Wellington.
Situated on the foothills of the Hawequa mountains, overlooking Wellington.
CLIMATE:

Cold and wet winter.  Normal rainfall in spring.

TERROIR:
Weathered granite; sandy loam in lower lying areas.
VINTAGE NOTES:   

Colour dark ruby red; fruity with plummy flavours; well developed fruity nose; smooth mouth feel; balanced; integrated.

VINIFICATION:

Age of vines from 6 to 12 years.  All grapes are hand picked and sorted to ensure only sound healthy fruit is used for vinifiation.  Cold maceration and low fermentation temperature ensure the preservation of fruit aromas.

 

DESCRIPTION:

A blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon (giving structure), 13% Shiraz (for a combination of spice and smokiness), 10% Merlot (giving elegance). The wine was matured in French oak barrels for 18 months.
