Situated on the foothills of the Hawequa mountain, overlooking Wellington.

Long and cold winter.

Weathered granite and sandy loam soils in the lower parts of the vineyards.

Age of the vines varies from 5 to 10 plus years. Grapes are handpicked and meticulously sorted to ensure only the best fruit is used for vinification. Juice stay on skins for up to 21 days after fermentation for elegance and structure. Matured for up to 12 months in mainly French oak barrels.



Very dark, velvety red wine with a sweet smokey whiff of cigar box upfront. Followed by prunes and plummy aromas on the palate, characteristic of this noble cultivar. Although perfectly drinkable now, this well structured wine will benefit from good cellaring for future use. Will complement rich red meat dishes, steaks and venison pie.
